what do crabs really like?

im a chicken necker that crabs off a dock in jacksonville florida. They hit pretty well with the chicken necks, but i was wondering if there was any other bait that will really get the crabs coming in?

p.s.  a bait i can afford! lol

hey bill im in new york city and fish off bridges (crab) and i use moss bunker its a very oily fish that they love,try to get the freash ones,but frozen will work as well....good luck my firend 8)

Billy we call bunker, LY's or Alewives or Menhaden down here, most all bait shops have them, cut mullet works well too

Bunker (Menhaden) in the Philly /Jersey area  ;)... ;)..most bait an tackle shops up here sell it for a $1 a fish.....good size fish too..maybe a foot in length  :D

Crabbing in Jax is not much different than crabbing in Georgia. I use pogys. They are a native fish and an oily fish. The crabs love them. You should be able to find pogys at any bait shop. Try them and your crab traps will be full. Now here in Georgia we use square shaped traps. 8)
