First miss of the season on Saturday, misjudged the distance and missed a nice doe at about 30-35 yards, I used my 25yd pin and shot right under her :wall:  Talk about being startled :shocked2:  I think the doe is still running ...she didn't know what was going on and probably jumped 8 feet in the air :wreck:  Oh well, I didn't like that shirt anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, I shot over a nice Doe on Saturday.  She was about 15 yrds and I skimmed her back.  :furious3:  Age old lesson, componsate for the angle :wall:

You do know at that range a 30.06 doesn't need compensation for the angle.  ;D.... I am not an archery hunter, was for a few years till I missed a huge 8 point (shot later, 27"spread) due to a [dang] tree branch I didn't notice in the arrows path. THen later that year my bro in law shot a boone and crockett 10 point (28"spread), and had it stollen by another hunter down over the hill, guess it is easy to shot a buck from 75yrds away in the neck if you are this guy. Didi I mention when we got to the buck which he was starting to dress out, at 75 yrds the arrow was straight up and down through the neck and about an inch in the ground ???. Oh well instead of getting into a fist fight and possibly worse, we stuck several arrows in the hind quarter, and to our surprise, he said he didn't care, he just wanted the horns. ??? So we gave hime the horns and I hope he is happy bragging about the deer he didn't shot. We got what we go after..........VENISON meat. YOu can't eat the horns folks ;D

I feel you!  I missed a basket racked six still in velvet on opening day.  Only difference is I shot over his back.  He was 25 and I though he was further.  Blew a total chip shot.   Like stated before, makes us want to practice more.  I already had him mounted, when I released.  Good concentration huh?
