I picked up my crab traps yesterday and I got one bushel of keepers with a lot of throw backs. The water tempture was 81 degrees in the river. Going to have Italian garlic sauted crabs tonight.

Hey crossedeye crab, I just moved here from MD. any idea where to go to catch crabs with hand lines?

Where are you located or go on the coast?

MD/SC

I am a lifelong Marylander who got married and moved to Charleston, SC this year.

I am looking for any local areas where I can go crabbing myself.

Also for any nice crab "shacks" that I can buy a decent bushel of crabs for a reasonable price.

I know I can't survive a summer without at the very least, a monthly crab feast.

Any help for a "steamed" kind of guy in the land where EVERYTHING seems to be "fried", I would greatly appreciate it.

I fish, crab, and shrimp around Edisto Beach and Hunting Island. I know of a few down that way but not in C'ton. There is not a lot of traffic on here from SC. One of my best sources is Charlestonfishing.com There are topics for all and all up and down the coast. A place called Haddrell's I just heard of yesterday where you can get fresh dead bait shrimp and live crabs  bought cheep. You need to ask some locals - you should have plenty of places there to go. I don't think you will have a problem keeping up the Md. traditions here. By the way - in the lowcountry there are a good bit of "steaming" folks around. Here we like steam crabs, shrimp, oysters, and cook a good old Beaufort stew or seafood gumbo. Good luck.

Thanks,
I'll check that website out.
