Anybody muzzleloading on opening day in DE this weekend besides me :rifle: ?  I just cleaned and "buttered" my .50cal TC Omega, much easier this year because I switched to triple 7 powder last year.

I'm not liking the way this weathers looking for tomorrow morning  :-X.  I hope it moves out sooner than the weather man is saying, but I never believe them, and I'm right to do so at least half the time .  Good luck all.

Well, I woke up this morning and I thought the rain was all done, so I went out.  Was in the stand 45m before legal shooting time.  At legal shooting time it started drizzling, and by 8am it was pooring where I was.  I figured w/ the wind and the rain it was pointless, so I packed it in and headed home.  Of course when I got home, it looked like it was all over.  Oh well, maybe next time.  How did every one else do?

Went out Saturday morning and was just windy and damp and the only things I seen were trees.  No rain though so that was good.  Saturday evening was great though, winds calmed quite a bit so I sat close to the field, seen a bunch of squirrels, no deer though.  BS'ed with the farmer for about an hour, came outside turned on the truck lights and there they all were, about 20 deer standing in the field (one monster buck (probably 10+ couldn't get a good look in the darkness), most of them standing within about 50yds of where I had been sitting.  Maybe next Saturday I'll get one of them.

Thanks Scott/Bdc, yes it was nice to take a nice buck within the first thirty minutes of opening day archery season. :) :) :) can't wait til bear season ;) ;) ;) Good luck to you and everybody that will be out there hunting, (keep it safe).

FC,
Get up off the ground if you can, especially hunting a field. The deer will stage close to the field's edge shortly before dark.....more than likely on the edge the wind is blowing to. Try to wear as much scent free clothing as well as scent-free sprays to cover your scent......and kindly ask the farmer to relax on shooting at the deer so you can harvest a few. I bet he has a loaded rifle close by incase the deer make an appearance during daylight hours. :)
