Yes Bro there is crabs around, local ones being caught in the Pungo and Pamilco Rivers and some in both sounds far to the east. Some of my buddies have been getting 5/6 bushels of males every other day off of about 300 pots. Slowed down on this last cool spell, but has picked back up. I'm going to the Lake on Sunday. Sat is supposed to rain (slight chance) but I did catch some (2 little guys) over 3 weeks ago. Nick you know there is a lot of little niches down there to find crabs too ;D I saw a video on YouTube where a guy a was catching them 2 to 3 at the time over around the canals in Hbucken and Lowland area. It's a 20 min ferry ride and a 15 minute drive after that to get there, I might try it about mid to end of April. If I don't catch any, being that I worked in the business I might see if my old boss man can donate a bushel (he's my brother inlaw) so I usually don't have any problems. What I would like to do is see when some of these guys from this forum want to venture down here (late summer) we could try to catch some, if not I could get 3 or 4+ bu to cook for the gang(as long as they don't mind females too)
Lots of crabbers and crab lovers on here. If you enjoy crabs, lot's of info and good chat about crabs. Why not go ahead and donate to this forum. Deep down after doing research on here and chatting with others, you will find useful info from some new friends.ENJOY!!

True, I guess I got to get out more and find those other niches. Never been on the ferry, might have to give it a try this year.

I guess there is a spot a bit closer as well over in little Washington. I've see a park over there right on the water not much beyond the estuarium. Seen lots of nails in the bulkhead with line around them. I can only imagine that people must sit over there and try and catch crabs with a chicken neck. Have you ever tried that area?

Edit: Just found that video on YouTube. Wowser.
