I would like to take my 6 yr. old son crabbing for the first time.  Any good recommendations for crabbing around the St. Petes/Tampa area?  I don't mind a drive.  Wouldn't mind knowing about shrimping and scalloping spots either.  Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what road it is...but...go to the Lake Tarpon Canal, just north of Oldsmar (that's where my relatives live...).  Anyway, where the canal empties into the very top of Tampa Bay, there are some main roads that cross the canal.  Beside one (on the east side of the canal) there is a pull-off where you can walk down to the canal and crab or fish.  I crabbed there and caught small....but legal size crabs (5-6").  Sorry for the vague directions, but this is the best I can do...just get a map, and cross the roads that are on the south side of the canal...you should come across it.  Good LUCK!!  ;D ;)

Thanks so much.  I appreciate the info.  I'm sure I'll be able to find it :)
