Most of the dogs I've owned are bigger than the cubs pictured here.  >:(

Slob hunters - this is the type of incident that gives ammo to the anti-hunters.

Poor judgment is one thing, but to continue to be proud of it is another. Some things just can't be explained, that's a sad, sad photo.....

That is SICK !! What were they thinking ? Pennsylvania needs to do something about their laws if those things are legal . There is nothing you can do with a bear that small . Unless he thinks he can get the Taxidermist to give him a break .................

use to be back in the day a bear had to weigh at least 100# to kill it then they lifted the law and screwed everything up, if you notice it was probably 3 cubs from the same mother. shittheads killed the whole family, losers probably shot them out of the trees when they got spooked. i would seriously like to have a chat with those boys and it wouldnt be about the weather

...Totally legal harvest! I may not of pulled the trigger, but that's me. Under-achievers, maybe......slobs, definitely not. PA game laws does not specifiy the size of a bear to be harvested, so again, the harvest is completely legal and ok in my books. :)

Judging bears size and weight in the field ain't the easiest.  I went to Canada on a bear hunt and there isn't a tremendous difference 100# and 225# bear.  Killing bears in Pa. isn't easy either.

crabologist

I agree with you guys about the legalities , but come on . If the bear looks smaller then your neighbor's lab , then it probably is ......................... But if that's what they want to shoot , more power to them .

Chris, I agree with your statement, just back from 2-days of Bear hunting, it is totally legal to shoot any size bear in PA. I TO, WOULD NOT PULL THE TRIGGER ON A CUB.

Especially when the mom bear is right there, I think you can tell size difference

....and by shooting the Sow and her cubs, they did exactly what the PA game commision wanted.....and that is reduce the population of bears. :)

Yes the Bear population has grown from 3,500 to an estimated 50,000 in just a few short years.
This year  hunting so far sucked due to weather :bigcry: :bigcry:

....There's nothing wrong with that, BF. Just think how many yearling deer will be harvested on Saturday.

im glad to see some of us have ethics, i hate seeing cubs get shot especially after i busted my azz with dr. gary alt finding dens and putting collars on cubs.i have been working with him since about 1983 so yeah it hits a nerve and yes chris i call a spade a spade and they are slobs.

ChrisS

...Hey, I understand how you feel, but it is legal....next year, in your case, time would be better spent in the State house, rather than the woods.  :)

I have a question about bear hunting. Do the people who hunt the bears eat the meat or are they just trophies? If they are only trophy hunting seems to me that those bears in the picture are not much to brag about. They look like babies. My lab is bigger than they are. I know hunting helps thin out the population to a number that the land can support but I can't understand why anyone would want to kill a baby for sport. How much of a challenge can it be? Again I have never been hunting.
I'd rather be crabbing!!  ;)
