Brains are a no. Spinal only chicken and Squirrell. I mostly feed mine raw chicken for the most part that has been frozen for at least 2 weeks. Any red or game meet gets frozen for more then a month and carefully slected.  Thanks for the heads up wit CWD in Wva.

This is true and without getting too much into it I am of the opinion of fresh whole food for the little buddy.
Raw chicken is the best for Cats and dogs :-)
Try googling th "prey model diet"  "raw feeding" etc.  I thought it was horse manure when I first hear about it and after seeing 16, 17, and 18 year old dogs looking like young dogs i was sold.  Ever since I started feeding my dog doesn;t have any skin issues, ear issues, itching etc. he hasn't been back to the vet since.

To each there own though what works for you may not for me and vice versa.

And you are right it does require a bit more time :-)   :D ;D  :chef: :chef: :juggle2: :juggle2:  :wall: :wall:

keep believing what you read, fido wont last as long as you think. my vet told me just wait till he gets a bad staff infection from all the trash you feed them of for something to get lodged in its intestines or bowels, then you might think differently when the vet hits you with a 2000.00 bill ;D

Gotta make sure they eat proper as we should too....like not eat too much red meat etc. But at the same time I say that....My Grandmother had a poodle who lost it's teeth, she  would by burger to cook for it daily...oh and mixed with soft mushy rice, or oats mixed in. The dog died of old age I think 15 years old.

I don't feed my dog burger and grains.  Dogs need raw meaty bones preferably chicken. The bone keeps the teeth strong and clean.  I feed mine chicken quarters backs necks.  Very very little red meat.  Beef bone marrow.  I go to a respectable butcher I know him I trust the meat.  The key is being clean about it. I feed my dog outside.  It's done fine by him. No allergies or scratching or mucus in the eyes he looks good and is pretty active.

Hey we all do things different.  I don't feel I am harming my animal.  Zoos feed there carnivorous a raw diet.

Think about the process of making kibble the byproduct and grains aren't even human grade.
OK this is waaay off topic. If anyone is further interested in the topic, pm me. :)
thx

COOKED chicken bones dry out and splinter. RAW chicken bones are very soft and pliable.  After the dog grinds them up they practically dissolve.  I know it sounds crazy but the dog food market has  prevailed for the last 100 years.  Dogs and other carnivores have been eating like this for thousands of years. Pm me I have some very good easy readings from vets and trainers who follow that same diet.  It's nothing new.  Dogs we train with are in upwards of 15 years old on this diet and many others in their senior years very strong and vibrant.

I am sure their are hunters here with dogs that may feed squirrels to them.  no? and have been doing it for years I am sure.

Just a different way.  Not very expensive.  Like a dollar a day for a quality meal.  He seems to love it.  Never digestion problems. No choking (knock on wood) Maybe smelly farts because he stole kibble at a friends house :-) He's very healthy and strong and I think he wouldn't be if I was doing something wrong.  I think the key is having the dog slow down from gulping to chewing.  My dog chews everything up.  I admit he was a gulper at first but he slowed down.  I would feed him frozen chicken to keep him patient.
