we were in Southern Maryland on some private property we lease but is soon to be developed.... We've had the lease for a long time but only have a few years left.

Bow hunting is a lot of fun; I used to love to do it but as my kids and their sports took away from my practice time my proficiency in the sport went down.... I had to practice a lot to stay good with the bow and when it came down to giving that up or time with my kids; well.... the bow practice and bow season had to go....

thats for next year, bow hunting.  I already told my self i'm gonna spend the spring getting good with a bow and going to buy one. bowhunters get almost 3 months of hunting.

and there nothing like early bow season when the deer are relaxed and at ease in the woods and fields.... It's a whole new ball game and normally you'll see a lot more deer per outting.. First deer with the bow is like getting your first deer all over again......

I totally agree,my problem is I can hit my target every time when I practice but when I shoot at a deer I go mental and miss!It is pretty funny how rattled I get like it's going to shoot back at me or something  I know it's all in my head but I have only managed to bag one with the bow in the past three years and that one was in my first year nothing since but plenty of misses.  :'(

Hey at least you're getting to shoot at them, and spending time in the outdoors. I've hunted Patuxant Reshearch Refuge for three years and every time I see one I can't get a clear shot. Maybe I'm being too cautious but I don't want to wound one and have it get away.

I did that this year it is a pretty horrible experience I can tell you that.I put the bow away after that.If I do that again next year I will be getting a cross bow. This year was not very good for me with the bow to put it lightly.  :-\  :-[

Sounds like a case of target panic to me.  If you are not using a mechanical release buy the best one you can afford :)

I would suggest standing five feet from a raised target backed by a hay bale and close your eyes and shoot into the target.  The concentration will shift from hitting a target to perfecting your release.  I believe that the release is as important as the aiming.  When you can come to full draw and effect a release by using just your back muscles let me know.  I'll give you the next step ;D ;D ;D ;)
