funny thing about tuna.....back in the fiftie's and early sixtie's , you could not give a tuna[bluefin] away...some people [pa.] would can them, but there was no market for them.....then the japanesse started to buy them and the price went up real fast.......when they where worthless they were "cat food",now at              $10 a lb. they are ''delicious''...... ???   ???   ???
I agree.  Grilled is good but not my favor food..

OK, heres my top four for salt, fresh and over all. (im only including tose fish that can reasonably be expected to be found in our area)

Salt
1. Norfolk spot (fried in peanut oil with a cornmeal/crackermeal/breadcrumb breading) EEEEEEEEWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!  THATS SOME GOOD EATING!
2. Summer Fluke (stuffed with crab imperial and broiled with fresh cilantro/garic/rosemary-butter)
SHUTTTTTTT UPPPPPPPPP!
3. Tautog  (cooked whole and stuffed with cornbread/herb stuffing basted with white wine and a little balsamic vinegar.
WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!
4. Sea Bass (caught fresh from deep offshore waters and used to make my patented homemade spicy california sushi rolls.)
NOW THATS SERIOUS!!!!

Fresh
1. Walleye (anyway you want it)
ITS SOOO GOOOD IT SHOULDN'T BE CALLED FISH!!!! IT SHOULD HAVE ITS OWN "SPECIAL" NAME!!!!! ;D
2. Crappie (caught out of cold water filleted and deep fried in extra hot peanut oil, with some good Louisiana hot sauce on it.)
If you serve this, SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN! Its soo good, you family will begiin plotting your assasination!
3.White perch (Fillets grilled up in the morning with salt, pepper, ginger and a little lime juice and served with eggs over-easy and toast)
NOW THATS THE BREAKFASTOF CHAMPIONS!
4. Yellow Perch (dipped in buttermilk batter and fried)
THAT IS SLAP YOUR MOMMA GOOD!!!!!!!

Over all
1. Walleye
2. Spot
3. Flounder
4.Crappie

This is the humble opinion of one "Fat Man" ;D

are walleye good from anywhere?

I have a lake near my house where you can load the boat with 2-3 pound walleye, but the water is very muddy, ive always tossed them back.

There is a very clean clear lake about 45 minutes away that is supposed to be full of walleyes, but your chances are better getting abducted by aliens than catching a walleye there.  go figure.

Ive never had a bad walleye. If I could load a boat with them, I would never visit the grocery store!

Ever eat a Fallfish?  Took me a loaf of bread to get it down, best flavored fish I ever ate, but I only ate one. Normally you can not get them large enough to eat - most are the size of chubs. They got bone all over em, from the skin in, but the meat is so sweet...Done it once - bought the T shirt - don't need to do it again.

A summer morning, glassy water lapping at the sides of your boat, the smell of chicken necks and outboard motors surround you, you keep a drowsy eye on your line and a firm grip on you dipping net...... Can life get any better??

Rocksteady: That was a great showing of Tog. I noticed the dates for the pics, when does the season open for Tog and what are the limits if any? Jersey has some great Tog'n but doesn't open until 11-16-08. The limits I can live with, but the seasons timing make for a generally COLD day on the rocks. Not to be too prying, but what area do you fish for the Tog? Boat or Jetty?

of the three you list croaker would be the best tasting...

I prefer rockfish over all of them, but freshwater walleye and maui maui ( dolfin fhish ) is my favorite

LOL You and my husband must be related. I think you mean Mahi-Mahi. We lived in Hawaii for three years and he still calls them Maui-Maui too.
I'd rather be crabbing!!  ;)
