I will be in Pensocola in June. Are there some piers  that I can fish and crab from without buying a license? Thanks

Crabcruncher

The Pensacola beach fishing pier has a blanket license, all you have to pay is the fee to go out on it. Should be good King Mackerel fishing in June from the Pier.
Say brother....can you spare a crab...

Thanks RD- I was kidding but in reading the link I caught something else I missed ;)  It's nice of Florida to lift the Hold on crabbing due to BP's impact.

OK...while I was getting my papers today (yeah I'm legal for crabbing goodness now),  the guy I was buying it from told me that for residents who are crabbing off bridges and shore-lines can opt for the SHORE LINE License (which is free right now) but if you get on a boat it needs to be a Regular Salt Water fishing license.  Does that sound correct?

ACFISHERIES

I think it's correct, but look at the fwc website.
Good dogs, Rotgut whiskey, All the BS you can stand

Woffie

yeah I did already but there is nothing pointing it out...it seems to be implied and I don't think most government departments know what "implied" is no less they pass up a chance to collect a fine.  :D Wanted to ask you O'l Salts before I got in trouble.   :bobby:

You do not need a saltwater fishing license or a snook or spiny lobster *permit if...

■You have been accepted as a client for developmental services by the Department of Children and Family Services.  The department must furnish proof to such clients.
■You fish from a for-hire vessel (guide, charter, party boat) that has a valid vessel license.
■You fish from a vessel, the operator of which has a valid vessel license issued in the name of the operator of the vessel.
■You fish for recreational purposes from a pier with a valid pier saltwater fishing license.
■You have a valid saltwater products license.
■You fish for mullet in fresh water and you have a valid Florida freshwater fishing license.
■You are a resident who is saltwater fishing from land or a structure fixed to land who has been determined eligible for the food stamp, temporary cash assistance, or Medicaid Program by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Proof of identification and a benefit issuance or program identification card issued by DCFS or the Agency for Health Care Administration must be on your person when fishing.
NOTE: Effective Aug. 1, 2009 - Residents fishing for a saltwater species (other than mullet in fresh water) from land or from a structure fixed to the land are required to have a no-cost saltwater shoreline fishing license.

* These exemptions do not apply to tarpon tags.

I guess crabbing is implied where FISHING is written.  Either way better safe than sorry.  Thanks RD!

This has become a topic of interest for me as we are looking at the possibility of getting the H out of NJ in the next 2 - 3 years, possibly relocating to somewhere near Cedar Key, FL. The above original link now results in "Page Not Found". Here is the current link to the salltwater licenses page, which should have most of the same information. I started looking to see if there was a Senior exemption or discount similar to NJ, then realized that in Florida they would probably lose half their license revenue doing that :)

Florida- 65 and older no license required for fresh, salt, hunting. Need to be citizen with Fl. ID. Tarpon, duck etc tags need to be purchased. This is my understanding.  Mark
