In response to Crabby Crabber, I think you are required to have a valid saltwater fishing license to take crab by ringnets, handlines, or dip nets recreationaly. I checked the DMR site and non-resident 3 day runs about $18.29. I was checked weekend before last while handlining only. Friendly officer and he offered good information about the area.
could ya post a link so we can put it in the gulf coast regs board?

Give a man a mess of crabs and you feed him for a day.  Teach a man to crab and he'll sit on the boat and drink beer all day.   Crabbing 24:7

If your beer don't smell like fish you're not doin something right.

Fishin is a privilege not a right!

I was curious of the regs, it looks like you only need a license to take crabs with a trap.  From my understanding of the regs, you don't need one to use a line.  Am I mistaken?
