Collapsable Traps in NC

  I have read all the confusion regarding the recreational use of collapsable traps (not pots) in NC. I called
Becky Midgette in the Wanchese office and she refered me to the Columbia office which is the regional office where the actual patrolman work out of, (252)796-1322. They could not have been nicer to talk to
and although the woman I talked was not sure exactly she took my phone number and I received a call the next morning. She wanted to wait and ask the officers that actually do the partrolling to be absolutly sure.
  You can use as many collapsable traps as you wish in NC waters. (Once again traps not pots.) I hope this helps to clarify this confusion for everyone.

with just a fishing license??  i saw some people crabbing first week of june...soundside just north of buxton( the trout hole)  i wonder if they did any good? they were using like 30 traps.

I'm on vacation down there in Duck in 2 weeks. I sorted through all the confusion with the help of the officer in the area. He told me as long as the traps are collapsable you are chicken necking. And if you are chicken necking you can run as many lines or traps as you want AS LONG AS THEY OPEN UP WHEN THEY HIT THE BOTTOM.  Best explanation I ever got.

If they were crabbing in Buxton in the sound I can almost bet they didnt do that great.  As far as regs..RCGL allows you to run up to 5 pots recreationally.  If you are running pots then you are not required to have an RCGL.
