Does anyone know if the crabbing at Labonte Park on the Nueces River is safe? I went there last week and saw some crabs but my wife swears she wont touch them. Also, even with the heat and high salinity, are there still crabs to be found in the grassy shallows of the Laguna Madre near Red Dot and the Humble Channel? I think I might try the flashlight and dipnet "man vs crab" method.

Posts here are very old. Through the years I have been told that blue crab in this area have been great and other years bad depending on the crazy weather we have. I noticed any place on a pier with a cleaning station works better. This would be outside the park in other areas. The small spillway however in the park has some big crab at times below the spillway. I plan to try in that area soon.
