went to indian river back bay, talked to a guy who had out 2 over night pots and he had 13 keeper crabs and some throw backs.  crabs are here. can't wait to put mine out this weekend.

dwayne,  I was just thinking about Indian River for my first run due to the warmer waters from the energy plant. If you hear anymore please let us know. Thanks. Now I really got to get moving.

jb, I put 4 over night pots out sunday in the windy weather, and i also counted 19 other pots that were out in the same area as where i put mine. going to check them on tuesday.

after all said and done, not sure if some one got to my pots before me or not , 1st pot no crabs had chicken necks in it, second and third pots were only about 15 feet apart, when i put them out  they were about fifty yards apart.  not sure if the tide moved them do to all of the rain that we had last weekend and the high winds or some one else did,  but any way i had bunker in the last 3 , and i ended up with 6 keeper crabs 5 nice sizes jimmys, and one female that i let go.  now that i had that tast of cold beer, and fresh hot steamed crabs. cant wait till the next trip out.

dwayne,   Were you near the power plant? I'm close to red marker 30.

mike,
if you come out from the boat ramp, and go right the first red can by the end of the boat docks, that is where i set my first pot, the next three pots i stayed rigth in line with the next red marker headed towards the power plant .  did you have pots out this year, when i checked mine i saw another pot that was close to the red can.  did you have any luck.

mikesr

dwayne,
Not this year but I do place one pot in that location and one directly across from it on the south side of the river.  Most of the time I place them past the plant near the chicken ditch. ;)

put in at gall point. and whent up towards the power plant, i see poeple crabbing right of the ramp all the time, and it is free to use the ramp.

mikesr

That ramp is called the Rosedale Beach Launch.  It is next to Gull Point.  In staters can launch for freebut some area ramps charge a few bucks.  See you out there dwayne.  ;)

If you are out of state and use the ramp make sure you have a sticker for the ramp. 35.00 bucks for the  year. AND THEY DO CHECK >:( >:(

Rosedale Beach Ramp? Is that the ramp that has a limit on size of the boat? I remember that one of the ramps around the power plant has a limit on size.

JB

The only limitation at the ramp is the tide.  It is a double ramp w/ floating decks.  At low tide it is hard to launch a Jet ski.  At high tide you could launch anything trailerable. There is a public fishing pier that gets packed w/chicken neckers.
The state has a new launch at Massy's Landing at the end of Long Neck Road.  It is a quad ramp that has no tide or size limitation. There is also a nice public fishing access but the crabbing is terrible.
