Mattamukett crabbing last week

Was in Emerald Isle on vacation last weekand drove 3 hours from Emerald Isle to Mattamukett to see if we can catch some of those legionary crabs. The weather was cool and no bugs. Caught 7 large (7 inches, one 7+") but skinny crabs. Was excited until we cooked them.  If we have known that it was so skinny, would have just throw them back in. I don't think the crabs in Mattamukett taste as good as those from the bay (just my opinion).  Not sure if it is worth the trip and may not try again for a long... time.

Ah, the famous Mattamuskunk Tin Crabs. I went 3 times last year, in June some had meat, I am starting to believe theres no food in that lake.
