I'm going to be at a CG training at the Ocean City Coast Guard Station so I won't be able to bring my own rods. Is their a place I can rent a rod for a couple of hours while I'm on leave?

First you better find out where you are going to be it's a long walk from the Outer Banks to Ocean City
You will always catch more crabs with a DOT.NET than a DOT.COM

Years and years ago - long before you were a gleam in your mom or dads eye they rented fishing gear at the ocean end of fishing pier. Bamboo poles with little cork bobbers.

Here another on the inlet.

I wish to die like my father did, in his "sleep" - unlike the screaming passengers aboard the plane he was piloting.

Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

That place is right next to the CG station.  They rent rods and have everything else you need.  How long are you going to be in OC? When?

The OC pier on the board walk rents rods. I think they are $5 or a little more. Have fun.

night fishing on the pier they are talking about is the ticket. Blues will show up at times in hundred and you can spend the next two hours catching fish after fish after fish. other than that I've caught a whole lot of skates...  :-[

I might be out on the OC pier this week. Look for a guy sleeping in a chair with a fishing rod in his hands and a pile of empty cans around him.

Nevermind everyone. I just foundout today that I will be flying down to Florida for my Coast Guard training. I will be on the US Coast Guard Cutter James Rankin, skimming deepwater oil for eight days. I'll be the only Seacadet, everyone else will be Coast Guard.

BF, that is a good boat to be on. The Rankin is a local bouy tender (local to Baltimore and the Chesapeake). I have heard they have great meals onboard.  Enjoy the sun and take in as much knowledge as you can.  Don't forget to tell them you know a guy in St. Mark's named RD that did the blizzard dance while they were bouy tending this past winter.
