Even though I had to work yesterday morning I decided to go give the crab trotline a try. Had one line with 50 baits (chicken necks). Ran it three times and had a bushel of crabs. Culled out a couple dozen of the best and put the rest back. Trotlining alone in a crosswind was a little tricky but once you get the motor angle right you just bump it in and out of gear to keep you on track and at the right speed. Few folks know that this is truly old time Beaufort crabbing. Guess that's how ya know your getting old. Got them crabs iced down and going to have them for lunch today.
btw it was just past midday and slack water that was just beginning to flood, not the best time for dem craab.

run the line with the wind and it makes a little easier, good luck

If you find that your boat idles to quickly down the line, you can drag a bucket to slow you down.  Keeps from bumping in and out of gear.  Nice catch!!
