....in the Back Bays of NJ. My buddy and I started crabbing about 5:15pm and stopped around 7:30pm. 30 Slammers. Biggest crabs of the season so far!! They were heavy and big. I dropped my commercials out for the first time this year when we arrived. We decided to check them when we left...they only sat for two hours...To my utter disbelief, between the three pots (my girlfriend has her license as well) I would say there was already 40 crabs. I could not believe it!!And oddly, my bait was almost gone in two of the pots. How the heck did that happen? Anyway, it was a beautiful day on the water and a great crabbing afternoon.

Well it sounds like the NJ crabbing is finally in full swing!

Nice job!

Uh, when you say slammers, can you give me some sense of  the size of these blues?

Howard,
To us New Jerseyans...a nice fatty..6.5 inches and up is considered some decent slammers. I understand to you Maryland Crabbers that's small change but it's still exciting to pull those heavies up!! Thanks for the recognition and good luck next time out.
