Poll: Clean before cooking vs. Steaming them live

Do you clean your crabs or prepare them live? This is for when preparing crabs to pick them, not for other recipes (like sauce,etc. ) Vote in the poll and post your reasons in the string.

I tried to prepare them live but they kept biting me. The bread got soggy too... $:-\$

These are crabs you purchased from a seafood wholesaler, right? As we all know, there are no crabs in Virginia.
