Been without power since Saturday evening. The power guys showed up at 8 am this morning and have been cutting trees and running line in my woods all day. I thought I was going to be a week at least and in under 24 hours I am back up and running. Had time for a few pictures today (Sunday) around 5pm. Water is down a good 3 feet. Now we just hope when it comes back it doesnt go up 3 feet higher than normal.

The first two pics are the canal that runs out from my boat house and piers. The next three pics are a view of a neighbors pier up the creek.

I love my crabs.

Same canal when the water is at normal levels.

If the center of the storm passes before high tide you likely will remain like this. The storm turns counter-clockwise. It pulls water from behind the center and moves it forward. I recall going to the beach during a cat 1 and seeing at least 200 yards of sand that was always underwater while 20 miles north had more water than they wanted to see

Thats the way I see it also John. The wind is going to blow south for a couple of more days. It can only blow more water out unless it does some crazy breach up north somewhere. I think it will get lower before it gets higher but everyone I talk to is thinking Irene scenario even though this is different. I will post another picture when I can see what is happening in the morning.

Water started to slowly come back in at about 11:30 am this morning. The pictures below were taken at that time.

3:30 Monday picures.  It is starting to come in good now and the storm surge 10 miles south of us is over the banks. It is amazing how things can change in a couple of hours. Keep in mind this is a non-tidal body of water and its depth is driven by wind.
I love my crabs.

Great series of photos. Hope all on the eastern seaboard in harm's way of Sandy stay safe.
