Took my 16 year old son on his first deer hunt Saturday for junior hunters deer season.  Scouted a piece of property in Hickory and saw plenty of sign , and a nice buck on Friday afternoon. Got into the woods about 6:00am and got set up. About 7:30 this small buck comes from the cornfield to within 40 yards of where we were sitting. My boy really put the wood to 'em. One shot with a 12 ga and copper solids and he only went about 75 yards. His first deer hunt , and 90 minutes later his first deer. He's gotta be thinking" There ain't nothing to this deer hunting stuff!!!" He says he got lucky, but I think it's because he had a good guide ;D ;D ;D
Smoked carp tastes just as good as smoked salmon .....when you don't have any smoked salmon.

It is great to share in the excitement of a first deer. My son had a great day as well. I will post pics later.
Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.
