I did not know there was a contest until I actually caught a larger crab and did a search for crab size to see what others were catching after I ate my crab  .  I caught this 8.25 inch crab as measured from point to point on 7/11/13 in the Choptank river.  I placed it on the cooler with a ruler for illustration purposes for my photo report as it was still alive and moving slowly from being iced.  It was packed full of meat and a great meal!  I took a tape measure after it was steamed and it was exactly 8.25.  Luckily I took a picture with a ruler behind it for illustration purposes while it was alive so the picture catches its true size albeit the right point of the crab is oriented too far left of the start of the ruler as the rulers measuring end begins a little before the crab point starts (heck the crab was still moving!).  Either way it was the largest crab I ever caught and it was precisely 8.25 inches!  Now the one I did not catch that day swimming on the surface would have landed me not just in a crab contest, but on the talk show syndicate   Here is to sunny days and more productive crabbing

Thanks Tattoo!  I did not know as I did a search for large crab photos and did not realize there was a contest or rules to it.  Either way it is here for entertainment value as I am sure it is too late to join the party after the contest started.  Since I don't own a boat entering before this catch would be akin to a one armed swimmer paying a fee for entering a breast stroke swim competition.  I mean I could get a medal if every other contestant stroked out or showed up intoxicated, but the likely hood of that happening is as great as a bus load of strippers breaking down in front of my house in the middle of the night and my wife not minding me sleeping in the spare bedroom with them for the night.
