Okay, so I read that blue crabs are in the St. Johns river.  WHERE? I live near Palatka Florida and want to catch these delicious fellas.  In June I shrimp at the Palatka bridge and do very well. So please if any one knows where theses blue crabs hang out near Palatka pleases advise. THANKS!

I don't know where the salt fresh water interface is on the St. Johns.
There are salt springs in Lake George and I thought that the water was salt around Palatka...not so?
If the water is not salt at Palatka then head upstream until you get to salt or brackish water and give it a try!

Do a search for Palatka, I just did and there are quite a few posts.
Here is one: "If your in Hastings I'd go to the Shands pier on the west side of the river.  You'll do ok. "

Good luck when you go and please post a report! I'll probably be getting over that way some day!
Retired in paradise!

There are plenty of crab far upstream from Palatka.  Even up the very fresh Oklawaha river large Jimmies can be found.  I see a high density of commercial crab pots in the river down into Lake George.  I understand there is a pretty good good commercial business as far south as Astor.  This past Memorial weekend I caught plenty of jumbo Jimmies in the Welaka area.  I would think the same place you get your shrimp in Palatka, you can catch crab.

If you look out from the bridge you will see some crab buoys.. I  have been getting them in Lake George. Would love to catch some shrimp! I was down at the Pier in Palatka the other day thinking they may be running but no shrimp..  Oh, you can get crabs at that pier as well.
