i actually have a feeling the crabs could care less one way or another what color the line or snood is...but it sure does make it easier for the crabber to see it in the water, especially muddied...and that could definitely help increase the catch by decreasing the number of 'd'ohs!'.

I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Did about 7 uns of 8 traps yesterday. Only trap that consistently had a crab was one with the red zip tie ; 6 runs in a row!!

Had the same experience a couple years back. Harbor freight will have a rum on red zip ties;D;D;D;D;D
Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.

So why arent all fishing lures the same color ? :/

Fishing lures are painted up to attract fishermen, not fish.  I jigged so many rockfish off my dock with a SS spoon and treble hook then anything else.  Then it snagged and I lost it.

Look at crab potters, black, red, yellow, blue, green, orange, and any combination of color.  If all the crab potters in the bay used a green pot, I'd say color matters, but they don't.  [Sam Hill] I used to have a pot of every color, didn't notice a difference.

Because silver mimics all the rockfishes food source colors ;$

how about learning your facts.. Crabs have limited vision and find their food based on smell and touch.. like I said.. try doing some homework..

I can tell you from experience, crabs have VERY good eyesight. I can walk around my live box off of the pier and the crabs will be constantly looking up and backing away from where I'm moving. That's through 24" of water and another 8' - 10' of air. Try pulling up to a crab swimming on the surface from the front where it can see you and see how close you get before it goes down. Ever notice how the shadow of your boat affects the crabs on a trotline? Maybe you should try doing some ACTUAL homework through personal observation instead of relying on other sources.

Stick your fingers in the basket. Don't think they are smelling then. ;D;D;D;D;D

Not true.. I train CBR's to retrieve and part of the training is get them to only pickup the green dumbies....  Dogs only have 2 cones in their eye (i think thats what I remember anyway) limiting the color range they can see.  8)
