Is it just me? ???  Crabbing has been bad but the quality of the crabs I've caught has been even worst.  I don't think I have had a single crab this season that wold pass the pinch test.  Even now, when crabbing should be starting to peak, the cabs shells are paper thin here.  They are light and empty. ??? It's like they are starving. You can tell that they are not coming off a slough.

Plus, by now in years past the rockfish would be looking good.  This year they are all smalls and they're bellies are empty. I didn't see a single school of bunker in the creek this year.  What the heck is going on? ???

Anyone else see the same thing in the lower bay or elsewhere? ???   :-\

Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.

Maybe the crabs are pissed at you Jack for denying their existence ,so they're sending all the bad crabs into your pots.

Funny you should mention this.  I made it out this past weekend and was catching some very dark and dirty crabs.  Sooks and Jimmy's.  We brought home about 20 and almost 3/4 of them were flexers after cooking. Very disappointing to say the least.  I din't notice it as we were measuring and moving from the cull basket to the keeper basket. One huge Jimmy was super dirty and I could practically squeeze his top and bottom together.

I would of thought they would be hard before they had time to get as dirty as they were

The quality has been excellent up around my way this year. Last October was horrible as far as quality goes. I hope we don't get a huge sluff and get stuck with a bunch of trash crabs this month. Last Sunday just about every crab was rock hard.
I wish i was a crab.
