Crabby,
What's the story with the all out assault on deer down in your counties.

I know it was proposed, but I'm not sure if the law passed, but it was basically rifle season all year round or darn near close to it.

never passed but the amount of car crashes and crop damage was background on it and just the god ole boy network.... the other thing is the place is starting to get an influx of new homes and city folks coming in and the deer are cute at first until they eat everything in site and "ruin" their precious flower gardens and tear up their expensive imported trees

a couple more pics of a "new" deer I haven't caught on camera until this past week.  Just pulled the cam cards this afternoon.  This one is a real brute...check out the brow tines....

Where is this property again? And what days will you not be hunting?  ;D That is one [Sam Hill] of a deer and he is still growing! Easy 140 to 150 by the time he is done growing. I hope to see some bigger bucks showing up. I just put up a 2 man ladder stand a camera and some corn in one of my feeders. Hopefully I will get a few pictures from my new property. I hope the 3 shooters from last year made it and I get a few pics of them.

I just found out that they did extend the season in St Mary's and Charles counties until March 31 for antlerless (Firearms).

That's sad, I wouldn't gut a doe if you shoot her.

IMO when they-dnr invented early bp season it pretty much ruined bow hunting the rut as ear.bp bring too many hunters into the woods and making the real big bucks hunt does more nocturnaly

Yes it does. PA doe only ML early season sucks. Not sure what the big thrill of shooting a doe with an inline is anyway.

Finally get to post under this thread....
My plan since last season was to get out there in mid-July to start feeding and rotate my camera around each different spot (One in particular) to see what's around and see if the few bigguns I saw last year are still around.

Had my feed connection give me a call and I was able to score some free bait Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, strained my back :-\ :-\ :-\
Chronic issue usually happens once or twice a year. I have a window of about 2 days before the feed starts to turn. Wednesday 12 hour round trip to NYC for work...total of seven hours on a bus.  :'(  Not one to waste...after work yesterday had to get the bait out before it rotted. Hit two spots and put camera out. Severely tweaked my back again. Neighbor is a PT, he treated me last night. Crabbing tourney tomorrow.......

All really great fun with an injured back.

But hey, there's food in the woods and my cam is up ...Only two weeks later than I wanted....not bad

Just wanted to share that quick story.
Month and a half until early bow starts up here.
Good Luck to all. If I have anything good on cam I will share.

Not only that, fp. The doe only muzzleloader season in md seems to me, the beginning of the rut.

I won't see a single deer with antlers the whole 3 day of the open season, but come Monday and the rest of the week of the doe only season, every buck in the county decides it's time to start making scrapes on field edges an hour before dark.

It's a guarantee, doe only BP, I always see bucks!

My one property is not looking to promising. It backs into 100 acres of woods that people hunt and fields of corn and beans all around it. But I have had my camera out for 3 weeks with bait on the ground and only have 6 deer on camera. 3 does and 3 fawns. My other property has plenty of deer but no big shooters have shown them selves yet. The one good thing is I scouted some public land and found a good sized buck print. Right next to that one was another print slightly smaller. I am not a big guy but the foot print of these bucks where about the size of my hand from front of the hoof to the cleat. Found this spot last year and let a good looking 8 pointer go. Maybe its him or his father. I hope to see one of them.

Runt13, I hunt Wayne county also.  Property is approx. 160 acres along rt. 670 just south of Pleasant Mount.  Gamelands are right around the corner, we have many deer, tons of turkey, decent grouse, stocked pheasants, and a growing bear population.  Wayne county is truly a wonderful place to hunt/fish.
The crab was so big his claw cut my gas line in half and I had to swim back to the dock!

Definitely plenty of game up there. We were hoping to get our camper up there by thanksgiving, but need to find someone to do some land work. enlarge driveway, clear and level the camp area.

We are going to keep it primitive.

So cant wait to hunt it!

A friend of a friend lives up there near Miller Pond off of 247.  Near "the red schoolhouse" if you're familiar.  He has equipment and does dirt work/excavation, I could see if he's available if you need work done.
