Unsure of the size in the last pic! Didn't want to wrestle it to find out, but it was big!

This was a BIG crab. Points were bent and not real long. But he was heavy and good sized body. Claw span was over 19"

That's a big boy. I hear crabs grow pretty big in the Del bay.
I wish i was a crab.

They can if they avoid getting caught and live long enough.  ;D

If I didn't know better I'd swear you raise them in a tank then take them out for night pics.

Haha....well as you know the big guy I caught the other night is living comfortably now in my shop!  I'll be curious to see how long he lives before I send him to TAT!

Nice tank. How many gallons? I have a little 20 gallon brakish tank. Getting ready to upgrade to a 55. I had a crab in there for a while. They don't live long. At least the one's I had. One lived for a couple months. They make a mess of the tank. I had to replace a filter because it kicked sand into it.

Thanks Its a breeder 40 (extra deep)  So far he's OK but forget arranging anything. He's picked up logs , rocks and ripped out the bubbler hose/   He is eating good though. Likes clam, and fish for sure. I dropped a few sunnies in and well lets say one of the dumber ones became lunch. Hes even had a visit from the president of his fan club..the Williecrab!

As long as he's eating, he ok. Make sure you have lots of filtration.

Yep....the big guys are messy for sure.  I am doing partial water changes every few days as well being I have close access to the area where he was caught.

Search "aquarium" There's a ton of stuff on the forum.  If you get a little crab, it will (can) live about 3 to 4 years in a fish tank.  At the 3 year mark, fry'em up. :)

Let's save it here for the biggest photos in the 2015 contest. ;)

When I first saw this crab, I ignored it. Visibility was poor. I thought it was a rock and paddled away. It looked to big to be a crab. Wanting to make sure I went back and scapped up my personal best! A little over 8.5".

Last pic shows him on the left. Right crab is "Sig" for comparison.
