Soft Shell Crab Nets

DOes anyone out there have any idea on where I could buy a soft shell crab net- i want the one with the rollers on the end?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I had one years ago, think I got it from clydes sporting goods, sold it at a yard sale

That was a grass shrimp net probably labeled as a soft crab net. You can try anglers in annapolis I know they had some last year.

They were around over 50 years ago.  My dad used to make them.  I still have one of his original ones.  They are used exclusively for soft crabs.  My mother and aunt would catch dozens of soft crabs when the eel grass was plentiful.  That was before Agnes hit.

I stopped using it because we used a 50 or was it a 100 foot long drag net that caught hard and soft crabs. we would start from shore, make a big U in the water and come back.
Don't think it's legal now and not many places to do it. But i still have the net

Heck we used to skim crabs at night with propane laterns on the choptank and people used to crab all night at the wye river using lanterns.

Are they still planting eel grass?  I know there were some restoration project.  Anyone know of any currently running.  I wouldn't mind planting.

Yeah R D, I even remember how good the crabbing was before Agnes hit.  My dad and uncle would catch between 10-15 bushels with just 600' of trotline.  Those were the days.

I saw nets like that in Fishbones Tackle Shop in Pasadena . Didn't look at the price but they had 2 styles .......

Fishbones does have them.  The white netting is for shrimmp and the green for soft crabs.  Go figure.
Give me a long handled dipper any day...never understood the roller net thing.

The crabbing (and fishing) was much better before Agnes? It was still good afterwards for awhile.  Go back just a few more years.  The State put Agent Orange in the water to kill the seaweed.  This occurred when waterfront property became popular and the boaters complained about the seaweed.  The bottom of the food chain gone and habitat for species also gone.  Tens of millions of gallons of raw sewage spilled every year by local jurisdictions, the State continues to dump spoil, barges leakoverturn and leak toxins (sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid come to mind), DuPont dumping toxoci chemicals, etc.    But who is to blame and pays for it???   Oh, don't get me started.

You could try making one or drive a couple hours to swap something for mine. Here are some photos, notice the holes on the end where you would just use screws to attach a wood dowel (roller).
