I was in FL recently and stopped by this place called Lombardi's Seafood in Winter Park FL.  Awesome place for lunch - grabbed a grouper sandwich and family had all softs of chowder/seafood salad.  Also decided to fill a crab craving with some locally caught FL blue crabs as well as some really big softshell crabs.

The hardshells were sold pre-bagged on ice - they were a mixture of #2 males and females.  My bag had 9 females and 4 big males.

pic is of the softshells sitting on ice (quite a few of them were blowing bubbles out of their mouths....)

If you have a craving for crabs in central FL - this is a great spot in my opinion.  Plenty of parking, lots of fresh seafood.  They even sell lionfish (which as an invasive species off FL, it would be great to have more people put pressure on that fish and eat them!).

Nice! I saw somewhere that they now have fishing contests for Lionfish in Florida - They are really trying to get them under control!!!

SHELLFISH

You don't need a fishing licence if you are only catching Lionfish. They would probably throw you in jail if you catch something else!

Thanks for the insight into Lombardis. Looks like a good place! Too far for me to go. We have Hulls and Kings but they don't have that kind of selection! Hulls in Ormond Beach on Rt 40 (Granada Blvd)  has a good selection of fried fish sandwiches every day.
