I will be in the woods tomorrow. I have not hunted the property in 4 weeks. I have not been in the woods there but 2 times. I put bait down wed and tonight. The only 2 times I have been in the woods in a month. I'm hoping all the pressure around me will have the deer coming to my property where I have not been for a month. I'm looking to shoot a buck but might take a doe down if there are no bucks behind her. I have not decided if I'm going to stay out all day or take a break and come out for lunch. Next weekend I will be out in the woods all day. And out as much as possible until thanksgiving. I hope to get a buck this year. Hit one last year but the arrow did not work and only went in the deer an inch. I hope to make up for that this year.

They have been in my stand non-stop since 5:00 this eve.  It started out with a few does then a nice 8pt came in for about an hour.  Then a spike plus non stop does.  Now the wide 8pt is in there.  Cell cams can be nice but this is killing me.  I am sure I wont get much sleep tonight now plus they have been killing me with corn.  They have been eating 50lbs in 2 days right now.  Fattening up for the rut ;)

I have seen 2 spikes 2 bucks and 8 does. I have one spike in front of me right now. Only the spikes have come in range. A doe busted me moving from about 100 yards out. I was grabbing my bow and it looked right at me. I froze and it started doing the head nod. I could not believe it. They went past me about 60 yards away then hung around for 20 min then went back the way they came.

Put my wife in my stand Sat morning.  A wide 4pt came in at 6:30 but didn't hang long.  Less than 5 minutes.  Around 8am she had 2 buttons come in but passed on them waiting for bigger.  They were spooked by 2 turkeys that came in.  Nothing else the rest of the day.  She has matured as a hunter.  A year ago, she would have taken both buttons out.  She wants one of the big bucks we have on the cams.  Hardest thing for me is watching the action on the cell cams and not knowing what she has in her mind for that shot.

I sat in the stand Sat evening, saw nothing but it wasn't 30 minutes after I backed out, they were in the spot thick including the wide one who looks like an elk from his profile shot.

It wont be long now, the necks are swelling and I'm seeing some sparing and chasing on the cams.

back to bow Ronnie.  Saturday ended early Muzzleloader but I still used bow after the first weekend.  First 3 days was buck or doe and then the next wek was doe only unless you used a bow.

They have been in my stand all afternoon.  Even got a couple pics of sparing.

I should be finished PT in 6 weeks.

Weather here has been horrible for hunting.  90 on Sunday and 89 on Monday with no relief till next weekend.

June 2nd hottest on record, July the hottest, August the 2nd hottest, September and October the hottest on record.  We have had only .05 hundredths of an inch of rain in October which was the 5th driest on record but still 7.8 inches above average for the year.  Front expected to come threw Thursday night with only a slight chance of rain.  Temps will be in the 70's for the weekend and back into the 80's by Monday.

Flowers in my garden are still blooming.  Grass is dying due to a lack of rain and the trees are still green.
Oh well can't hunt right now anyway.  I guess I'll just go fishing instead.

Hopefully Mother nature corrects herself SLOWLY and not all at one time to correct your drought

I think its correcting herself after all the rain we had this past summer.  I had 7 softball games get rained out in a row stretching from June into August.  League had to cancel the fall season because the summer league lasted so long.  Can't wait to get back on the diamond and into the woods again.

Let's hope that is what she is doing.

We cant stabilize temps here, 80 one day and 50 the next and then back to 80's  It's fall, 70's should be the max and preferably 60's.

Have to Agree to Disagree Trophies are Nice at the time but as time goes on they become dust collectors and my stories and Memories hold more value.
I got this 10 pointer in 1957 and it was Largest Typical in NJ for that year. Now with no interest in my family to keep it, I am looking for a good Home for it preferably in an NJ Public area, Rather than in someone's Trophy Room any Ideas or Suggestions   It is in Like the day it was Mounted.  Stand By for Pictures it is on another Computer. Sorry about that. here it is.
In New Jersey you can not sell Game Mounts That is why I am looking for that Home for it.  You can PM me if U want

Try a sporting goods store or maybe the boat launch.  Maybe were you buy your bait.  Post the article and a picture that it was the biggest deer killed that year.

BTW 1957,  you're and old fart
