i spent a week in Jamacia recently and while there saw and caught by hand crabs that look like our blue crabs. The locals called them blue crabs and i assume they are the same as the Venicsavallin blue crabs. The color was somewhat differant. I did not eat them while there....Bit i did drink alot of RUM.

there are land crabs there - is that what you saw?

rdbeard

No but idid see some like that but much smaller. The ones i seen were in the water and just like ours here.

Did you get any lobster when you were down there? Here is a picture of a holding tank they used to keep them in during the day and then they would grill them up at night. It was kept about 20 yards from where I was swimming and was hard to pass up.

I have a buddy that was born and raised in Jamaica, so I asked him about this question, and like rdbeard said, they are similar to ours but just a more rounded shell and very good eating. But he said the land crabs are also very delicious to eat.
