Rut 2017

I was wondering how everyone is doing during the rut. I shot at one but missed high. Had anther one come from behind me up to 20 yards but could not get a shot at it. I went today and saw 10 small bucks and 2 does. I have seen a lot of small bucks this year. I will be hunting the next 2 days and hope to get another shot at a big boy.

have had no time to hunt as of yet, lots of members of our club are hunting from yesterday thru next thurs , the rut is on and it's time to hunt the bucks . i will hunt the first week of firearms for sure and maybe the late season .

In one of the areas I hunt the rut is on.  Can't go till Monday.  Buddy called and said the bucks are chasing does and the does are even looking for the bucks.  I'll chase the deer for a few days and probably try crabbing Thursday or Friday next week.

Trip in doubt.  Caught a head cold.  Hard to hunt when you're coughing

Man that stinks Ron. Coughing in the stand is never good unless you are in a box blind. Box blinds can help keep the sound down. I was able to shoot a small doe yesterday. I can't hunt for a few days and the first deer I shot this year is almost gone. Needed more meat in the freezer.

Wife got this smaller guy last Thursday afternoon.  He came in from her left grunting while a doe was on the right bleating.  He made a fatal error and crossed in front of her and she was ready.  He ran 40yrds and crumbled.  Her first nice buck

first one I have captured on cam.  Also know a few different hunters that have actually harvested a coyote or 2.

they are definitely all over anymore.

I don't think they're the threat everyone believes they are. There is far more easy prey for them to take than deer and turkey.

Chris that's true for mature animals but the young are easy prey.

Well, something has to cull the deer around here. Hunters up here in MD only wanna shoot big bucks and theres just too many deer.
