Just wanted to inform you guys that the crabbing is on at Mattamuskeet! I have never caught them like this before. We had our limit within the first half hour and ended up giving some away just to get the larger ones. The previous day, they were scopping them out of the water as the tide rolled in. Now's the time!

Nice report, was like that the first time I went in June 04, were getting them 3 and 4 at a time in thraps all 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 inches. Any size and weight, sometimes you get real paper shells.

Rick..been there twice wit all da boys  ..check out the photo album  ...you can catch alot of crabs there if the time is right....however,the crabs are so abundant,that my theory is that there is not enough food for them to eat in the Lake....when we first went down in July,2004..met Russ and Da Master for the first time  ..we caught a boatload of crabs...but they were all "Tin" crabs..whiteys as you would call them...they all had no meat in them..it was if they all were starving...as soon as we hit the locks at the trip in July...Sloopy dropped a handline in..and Johnnie was dipping for her...up came 2 -7 inchers  ....within the hour,with 12 ring traps and 5 handlines...we had dam near a bushel  ..it wasnt until later that nite when we cooked them that we found out 80% were "tin"  ..thank God Russ came from Va with crabs he had caught...they at least were thick and tasty

If I go it'll be for the company, not the crabbing! 
I can honestly say it's never a bad time when this gang gets together. I'm not real enthused about the crabbing at Manisweskunked and wouldn't be even if we where loading up on Mumbo's, just not my type of crabbing, but the crew is second to none!
