Good afternoon everyone,

My family and I will be vacationing in nags head next week and are unfamiliar with NC crabbing.  We are from NJ and know all the spots but didn't now if the bays around the outer banks, specifically the Nags Head area had good spots.  Mainly asking because I want to k owning it's even worth packing the traps and coolers. Etc...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Crabs should be very plentiful in and around Nags Head. There is a High rise bridge going from Wanchese to Manteo. Under that bridge there is a Wildlife ramp and a very nice public fishing pier. Lots of places to crab there + its in the shade.  Also- as your riding along side of the bridge to get under it- there is a ditch where boats tie up to that runs along the road there. That is a good spot to crab as the water is pretty deep.  The little bridge  has lots of crabs  but also has a strong current at times with the tide changes+ there is a paved lot there and a bathroom. Its right at Wanchese headed towards Manteo. You'd cross that one before the High rise.

Saxon is right on.  That is what they call the "Little Bridge".  Nice bridge with fishing catwalks on both sides. Free. Its a good place to fish from during tidal changes because it is one of the few places where you actually fish in a hard running tide with a real current. Incoming is always better than outgoing but outgoing is better than slack. Unless you want crabs. There is any easy state owned parking lot with a nice bathroom. Nice no hassle location where you can really settle in.
I love my crabs.
