Does anyone know for sure if Mikes actually sells Maryland crabs or are they from Louisiana, Texas, ect... ?

Based off this database, Mike's is not a "True Blue" restaurant. Which is hilarious considering our Governor kicked off the MD crabbing season this weekend at Mike's instead of Jimmy Cantlers who is on the list.

I just called them. Gulf crabs are being served currently(texas, louisiana). I ask when MD crabs would be sold and he told me" We are pretty happy with the gulf crabs and probably will be for a while"

This time of year, I wager they are costly. I never eat crabs till I catch them, shrimp is my "go to" for now. I can manage to get by without them till I start catching.

The restaurants and other businesses selling crabs now, know they will make good money off the out of state crabs. Mothers day this weekend, every good son will satisfy their mothers crab desire wish, LOL.

Hard to imagine MD crabmeat is available during certain winter months, in local MD restaurants. Those restaurants are not going to stop selling crabs or crab related meals, LMAO. Edgewater Inn is known for their crabcakes, bet they use crabmeat from somewhere besides MD during the last months of winter.

Out of towners probably couldn't tell the difference in crabmeat for the most part.

I was in Cantlers a couple decades ago, when a delivery truck dropped off Louisiana crabs. (At least my brother in-law said so when he came in from the parking lot!)

I dont care if they sell out of state crabs. I just thought it was a little odd to pick a place that sells Gulf Coast crabs for a Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab article.

Most likely the crabs were free and Yumi loves crabs. So Mike's tricked the MD Gov about the crabs possibly, LOL. Politicians have been tricking the public for a long time.

Edgewater Inn has some awesome crab cakes (for those not homemade.). Though it was years ago I was last there. They also had Colts memorabilia that was very cool to see.
