Yesterday while cleaning up my boat and putting stuff away from the wye party I was in my he shed. 😆. I reached down into a box and felt a prick on the tip of my middle finger. I went to pull my hand back but no such luck. I had gotten into one of the treble hooks on an errantly placed lure. The one hook was sunk deep past the barb just at the nail of my finger. It took a few minutes to gingerly work the other trebles lose from the random things in the box. Once lose I tried to pull the hook out but after much pain and cursing I decided I was in trouble. I took a pic with my free hand and sent it to a few friends looking for help. Most suggested urgent care. I got a response from Duane (CrabbyD) with a link to a website. A buddy of mine was on his way so I decided to try it. We took lineman's pliers and cut each treble hook off individually until it was just that set in my finger. All this drive the hook deeper in. I was getting shaken from the pain so I needed to get this over with soon. We got some fishing line and followed this to a T. I told him I didn't wanna know when it was coming to surprise me. Long story short the hook backed out perfectly and the didn't hurt at all  :o it was instant relief. If you fish learn this. It was a lifesaver for me.

Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.

I have had to do that more then I care to count.  It works good.. Never had to do it to myself.  Only to the people that fish with me...  ;D

Glad it worked out for you Al.  Like I was telling you yesterday, I had to use it once on the youngest daughter.  Works like a charm.

It was brand new and I think the vodka killed everything inside and out. 😆

It worked great when the kids were little and brought home all kinds of colds.  I would alway catch what they brought home.  Take a water glass of vodka, sit in a hot bath and read.  :rolleyes4: Next day the cold was gone.  Maybe it wasnt.  :stars:   ;D

Good that you had a buddy to yank it out...   Imagine being alone... Having other end of line tied to a doorknob while you hold down the eye with your other hand while yanking both hands away from doorknob!!!    #LOTTSA VODKA
I love to fish, but I live to crab.

Fishing the Susquehanna Flats with a dear friend one day using double rigged jigs with a piece of night Crawler on the hooks. We were sitting in an eddy of calm water and casting into the current where there must have been thousands of White perch Catfish and some Rockfish mixed in. What a day of fishing it was every cast two of something was coming over the gunnel constantly. My buddy john had something on and he finally got it in the boat a Channel Catfish about 22 inches long. I reached over and grabbed his line to remove the fish from the hook embedded in his mouth. Not giving a second thought I reached to get a hold on that beautiful fish but as my hand got closer to him he thrashed  and sent the second hook deep into the side of my left hand just beyond my little finger. NOT COOL I THOUGHT. John said he got you . I said yes I know that. What are you going to do about that. I told John there was an orange tool box under his seat there is a pair of pliers in there get them for me . Not a chance of pulling that hook back out without taking the chance of breaking it off in my hand. I told John there was a pair of needle nose pliers in that tool box, you are going to help me get this hook back out of my hand. With my right hand I got a good grip on the hook with those needle nose pliers and told John to use his thumbs to push the flesh down as I turned the hook and expose the point. When the point broke threw my skin John stopped, I said you have got to push the barb past and out of my hand so I can cut the hook off and free it from my hand. Let's do it again and this time wait until you see the barb the whole way out. I took a pair of diagonal cutters and cut the hook off then I removed the hook from my hand . I grabbed that CATFISH and put a slime layer over the hook wound , it never got sore, I had read somplace that the slime on a catfish is an antiseptic of some sort and fisherman have been using it for hundreds of years to heal wounds. I looked over at John and he was pulling up the anchors and I said , what are you doing? He said we are going home aren't we ? I said no the hook is out we are staying. I remember that afternoon very well, between John and me we caught way over 500 fish of all kinds but we only brought home 30 very nice above 12 inch  White Perch. John used to say , Do you think they are out there ? We were like brothers we were always together, yeah I miss him every day. This happened a very long time ago and yes this is what is left of that fishing hook that was deep into my left hand so very long ago.
