Woke up late for the first morning of spring turkey season. Almost talked myself out of it but my brother encouraged me to go. We got in the woods as the sun was coming up. Set up the decoys and got settled in. Hit the call a couple times and sat and watched. It wasn't 5 min and Guy said don't move we got a gobbler coming in.  We watched as he worked his way closer up the logging road honed in on the clucks and purrs. He was about 40 yards out and caught sight of the decoy and locked up. He kept looking for any movement. He wasn't liking what he was seeing and was getting uneasy. Fortunately we had a clear shot to him. Slowly settled the bead on his head  and he entered into eternity. My first eastern turkey gobbler. 24 pounds 1 7-16 spurs and 11 3/4 beard. So blessed and he will provide some good eating. Be safe everyone and let's get through this.
Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.

Awesome job Al and a super nice bird

We weren't as lucky yesterday.

Dag, I'd buy that bird from you, except it's probably illegal.  Would you take a Rolex or crabs in exchange?  Dag, that's probably unlawful also.

Absolutely illegal.  Poaching is poaching Mike.  There are no "commercial" license to sell land based wildlife.

Same exact discussion we had a bit back regarding deer. I really wish it was easier for non-hunters to get the goods.  I realize it's not, and I'm not happy about it.  I have zero time to hunt.  I'm sure you get my frustration by now.   :)
