Blue Crabs Invading

I wasn't sure if this was ever posted on here, apologies if it was already.  This is kind of crazy, they can't sell them so they just throw them away.  That's a terrible position to be in.

The blue crab was once a menace like that here, in the Chesapeake Bay. I have been reading about how crabs would foul fishnets back in Capt. John Smith's day, the fishermen would pull their nets and stomp the crabs to death. Sounds like they need to start up a blue crab fishery to help bring the numbers down, it'd be a win-win for the watermen there.

It sounds like nobody local wants them and they can't export unless frozen.  They need picking houses and canneries, which would be a significant investment.  I agree with you though, embracing the problem may be their only means of survival.
