First let me say I love this site and, although I do not crab enough to post much, I love reading what others post.

My topic: Bushel of Crab prices. (why the big secret? Does this site forbid talking about it?)

Ever since the "Maryland Crabs Delivered' Facebook guy went out of business, its been tough to get a quick easy read of the ever fluctuating live crab (Bushel) prices.  (did anyone ever replace him?)

This dude used to drive his truck from Kent Island to Severna Park, Bowie, Crofton, Catonsville, Wesminster, Owings Mills, Fallston, White Marsh, Dundalk, Glen Burnie and Severna Park and his prices were put on line for all to see.

A sample of his prices from August 2018:
LIVE HARD CRABS:
#1 Males- $225 bushel...$115 half bushel...$40 dozen HEAVY
#2 Males- $195 bushel...$100 half bushel...$35 dozen HEAVY
Mixed Males - $145 bushel...$75 half bushel...$25 dozen

Other than picking up the phone and calling crab houses or pulling over on the side of the road at one of the many truck guys, I have not been able to find crab prices very easily. The Sun Papers has a listing on (insane-IMHO) prices with most in the $350 a bushel range.

I was lucky last year to find a truck off of Rt 40 that traveled to Edgewood Maryland and parked across from a Burger King. His mixed males would sometimes be as low as $100 and his #2s would sometimes hit $140 . Sadly he has not returned this year and I was wondering if anyone else had any recommendations of good crab trucks or local waterman selling direct to the public.

Be cool if someone started a crabbuddy.com site to track crab prices like gasbuddy.com does.

Thanks!

Eastern Shore Crab Machine

Depending where you live. Hit me with a PM... I sell directly the public almost every single weekend. Will most likely beat any crab house/ shack price.

They sold the business, but I don't think the guy who bought the licenses was running the same type of business model.
