I did not set up my cameras so I was wondering if any of you guys have any good bucks on your camera. Planning on Hunting Friday with my friend. I will hunt the morning and he will join me in the evening. If we both shoot one then we will go fishing and crabbing Saturday. I think there is a good chance we will shoot a deer each.

Sounds like surf and turf is on the menu for Saturday night then.  I didn't set my camera up either, but I've seen on a regular basis, and super nice eight pointer still in velvet.  He's at least a three year old, maybe even four.  He's got some serious mass to the base of his rack too.  Hopefully I'm the lucky one who gets him!

Good luck. I hope you get him. Im just looking to shoot a med doe. Unless a big buck shows up.

Thanks, you too.  I shattered a tooth eating venison once (processor left a bone in there) so my days are over...too scared.  Neighbors that don't hunt are always looking for me to take a doe for them.  Problem is, they want me to gut it too!  Of course I do :)

I butcher 90% of my own deer. So no chance of bone being in my meat.

We butcher all of ours also.

I noticed the last 2 days most of the bucks are already out of velvet.

I used to cut them up and feed them to the dogs, but they don't even like it, lol.

Sorry but you have been cutting it up wrong. I have fed deer meat to people that did not know it was deer meat. They thought it was beef. Some people still did not know. I have kids crush deer meat and come back for more.

I have seen 2 year olds in velvet but never a shooter in velvet. Im hoping to be surprised this year with a Big buck. If its in velvet that would be a bonus.

Same to you buddy. I am going with a friend and I am putting him in the stand I would hunt because of the wind. It is the perfect wind for that stand. The stand I will be hunting is all wrong. But its ok. We put out 160lbs of corn out Monday. 80lbs at each stand. I wanted to put more corn down Wednesday so we could hunt Friday and Saturday without putting any more corn down. I only had about 10lbs of corn left at my stand and all the corn at my friends stand was all gone. They ate 150lbs of corn in 2 days. Good thing I put out 300lbs Wednesday. 150lbs at each stand. It might last until Saturday  So I think my chances of shooting a deer is pretty good even with a bad wind.

Good luck buddy. My season doesn't start until October 1. I'm watching a small 5 point and several does. 2 have lil ones but their are two older barren does that are destined for burger come next month. No fawns and you gone 😂. Good luck. Hoping done bigger ones show up to

You guys score?  I had two does, a four pointer and a button at the feeder first thing this morning when I got in my truck.  Little do they know all [Sam Hill] is gonna break loose on them.  No velvet on that buck.  Had a reddish tint color to his tines, must have just shed.

I've heard others say theirs has just rubbed the velvet off this week to. I'm further south and we are a bit behind. Our rut doesn't start till January so our fawns are still real small. Good luck tomorrow

I shot a doe this evening. It came in with 2 other does and a few fawns. My friend had a few fawns and small bucks he let go. He was looking for a big doe or buck. The bucks kept the does away so he never got a shot at any of the does.

I had 3 groups come in. The first group was a doe with 2 fawns. I let them go as it was early. 2nd group was 5 does and 3 fawns. 2 does and a fawn stayed back. Shot the one that gave me the best shot. Deer died within 30 seconds. Saw it run out to the field and fall over. No tracking needed. Then another doe and 2 fawns came and I let them go as well. Dont want to process 2 deer. My friend wanted to shoot his own deer. Good first day of the season. My friend saw 13 deer but the ones he wanted to shoot never came close enough.

Saw my "monster" buck today (Sunday) at the feeder.  Velvet is gone...doesn't look as big now :) but still a real nice eight pointer.  I hate this time of year.  A day off from work, I'm torn between getting in the stand, or drowning chicken necks!!  Not a whole lot of hunters around me so unless a car takes him, he'll be there for me later on...I hope :)
