Good morning all,
I havent been on here for a while.
Wife and I will be at Massys landing the third week of october amd I was wondering if the crabs might still be around. I know its water temperature that makes a difference.
New to that area and we will not have a boat along so we'll be crabbing from shore or piers / docks. Most likely hand lining with legs or necks.
Any local info would be great or even if its worth trying late October?
   Incoming tide better ?

   Thanks
We hope to start coming to the area more next year and hope to bring my boat.

May last Indian River trip of 2019 was 10/28; the year before last day was 11/4/18.  I did well both days crabbing from a boat.  Ultimately the weather forced the end of the season more than no crabs.  I don't know how it will be from shore or a pier, but it is definitely worth trying.
Good Luck

I've crabbed on thanksgiving day many years and caught 2 bushel. You have to use oily fish like bunker because most years there crawling out of hibernation and do not smell the chicken necks. The down side is there covered in mud so be prepared to clean them when you get home.

Thanks for all the info folks.
We crabbed a bit from the pier at Rosedale boat ramp and had fun catching small females . Did not keep any as they were mostly really small. We didnt stay long. Had other plans for the day but we had a great time for a few days in the bay area. We were camped at Masseys landing.
