I haven't been out much. Went out this morning before it started to rain. Saw 7 does and a doe that looked like it was being chased but never got a look at what was chasing her. I will be out hopefully Friday and most of the day Saturday. I know the rut is in full swing in my area so was surprised I didnt see any bucks. Im looking for a P&Y so Im sure I will pass a bunch of bucks. Might take out a doe if I dont see much Saturday.

I came down to DE today for the gunning season that opens Friday. I got a 6 point in the early muzzle loader season so now I have to shoot does/antlerless deer so I suspect I'll be seeing some nice bucks, I gotta be careful.

Crabbyd

I have several bucks showing up at night but nothing during daylight hours.

Crabby surprised they are eating and not chasing the does around. I am going out tomorrow. Lets see if I see a shooter.

Couple guys and girls have gotten some pretty ones up my way this year.  Unreal.
Guys I know are saying that last pic might be some record.  Shot right in the woods that boarders my in-laws house...

In the stand right now. Had a small 5 pointer go under my stand. Decent 8 also just went by. Looking for something bigger.

Seeing more bucks this morning. Just not what I want.

Saw this one up on the hill and called him in to get a better look at him. Messed with a brush and walked right by me. Maybe in a year or 2.

I shot a buck at 1pm. Been waiting in the stand as it was a bad shot. Low and a little back. Hoping I got liver.

Unfortunately No. I checked the next morning and thought I bumped it. So backed out again and with the storm coming decided to go this morning. Looked around and nothing. Looked everywhere I could and even in peoples back yard. The deer came quick from my left. Grabbed my bow and by then it was right next to me. I thought it would stay in its path so I drawl back. As soon as I drawl back it turns away from me. No shot since its going straight away from me. Then it turns behind a tree. Then behind a bunch of branches. I dont want to have my arrow deflected so I hold my drawl. It goes behind a tree and starts smelling where I walked in. I can only see his back and head. I realize how big he is at this point. I'm also thinking he is going to take off. He starts to walk and gives me a great broad side shot in a nice opening. I let an arrow fly and he takes off. I see the arrow sticking out of him. Only about 5 inches of penatration low and back. I see it take off and he runs up the hill then another hill about 200 yards away. I loose sight of him at this point. I wait 3.5 hours then me and my friends track it for about 300 yards then back out because of lack of blood. I go the next morning and find a little bit more blood but not much. I go about 600 yards and I think I see him get up and is walking away so I back out again. This morning I can not find a sign of him. Hoping he made it andbI get another shot at him. He would have easily been a PB for me. Looked like a possible P&Y. The 2nd deer in the pic above that Ray posted was what the deer looked like but much smaller. It had some really long tines.

I saw a nice buck opening day of DE shotgun but did not have a shot. And saw a small 6. This year I had to deal with a trespasser. So I have had excitement dealing with that. After talking to him and leaving a letter in his mailbox I hope that is put to bed.

It was a guy who said he had verbal permission over 20 years ago from the landowner. It was an older gentleman and I didnt care if he hunted his stand if he went to it in respectful time and was cautious. But with my friend confronting him last year when he was walking the middle of the woods first thing in the morning last year and me seeing him twice this year walking the middle of the woods at 9AM and 4:30PM to "stalk", I had enough.  He had going on 5 years to change his ways and I told him that we were now worrying when he was showing up and the times he showed up where it made hunting not fun and has pushed the deer to be nocturnal that was the last straw.  Plus he had a turkey call playing on his phone. ::).

The property itself isnt huge only 80 acres of a 500 acre chunk so walking and stalking doesnt help anyone.  It felt weird being stern since I am a person who tries to work things out but it wasnt working out.

Friday night at last light, this 7pt guy came in.  Not my #1 on my hit list but he walked in front of my bow at the wrong time.  Never pass on a deer today that you would shoot on the last day of the season.   ;) ;)

way to go, congratulations!

i hunted carrol county saturday, saw a little 4 point and a guy decided to set up 20 yards next to me on the other property in the field sitting behind an old plow.  i tried to whistle to him and even tossed a stick to get his attention in case the ported bushmaster wanted to roar. that didnt work so i shined my flash light and he jumped and waved to me.  in the end a really nice guy who appreciated I let him know i was in the stand so he wouldnt have a heart attack if i shot and invited my friend and i to breakfast. my buddy did miss a big buck. i told him to stop hurting trees.

I have a new #1 on my hit list.  This guy showed for the first time the other night.  I have 3 pics of him.  One morning and that was it.  He did make a scrape and used the licking branch so hopefully he will be back.
