Been looking at a lot of how-to videos on building and fishing with crab snares. First of all, are they legal in CT? Secondly, are they effective for blue crabs? Looks like monofilament loops would be better for blues than the string trimmer line versions.

morning! one day on a crabbing trip in CT a buddy pulled out one of snares that he got online. He was using the snare and I was using old fashioned hand lines. we both had bunker as bait. I was catching crab after crab after crab we new that there were crab right under us and he was tugging away with the snare hooked up to a fishing rod. He got a total of 4 which only 1 of them was a keeper. it took him all day to get those 4. and that was the last time he used it. I honestly dont think they are a effective form of crabbing. But then again we only used them that day.  :2thumbsup:
