Vicinity of Charlotte Harbor, FL

900' of CN in 4-6' of approx 75 or 80 so degree water. 

Tossed line out in the entrance to Whidden Bay (at Harbor Heights, this is a couple miles above I-75 on the Peace River) about 8:30am and ran it three times.  Let soak 20 minutes or so between runs.  Zero, no crabs.  I forgot my chains but the lies were definitely on the bottom for the most part.  About that time it was hot as [Sam Hill] outside. 

Pulled line and brought back to mangrove channel of Countryman Waterway (off of Alligator Bay in Charlotte Harbor) at about 10:30am.  (I went home and cut two sections of chain out a old hook and chain set that a wrecker left on the side of the highway about 20 years ago.  Apparently I kept it all these years for just this moment.) Let the line soak 20 minutes or so between runs, did this a few more timers.  Saw one crab.  Went home and about passed out from the heat.  But did a few hours of telework.  Went back for another run after 4 hours soak.  No crabs.  Hand pulled the line for the second time.

I will stick with crab pots for the few crabs I need when in this area.  The crabs are just not thick enough apparently for trot lines baited with chicken in this area.

   some fun down there in the Sunshine state but can't wait till you get
