Hard to find Topsail Crabs May 18th- May 22nd, 2021

Still not found the crabs at Topsail this year yet. Set 11 pots this time searched a couple newer spots with about the same success as I have been having. ICW lined with pots so I am staying away from those and I am assuming THAT is where the crabs must be- ( Deep ). I set from 3 to maybe 5 foot as that is as deep as I can find outside close to the ICW. Tried setting close to gaps in the oyster bars for stone crabs but that didn't work at all this time. Sounds like I caught a lot as I did catch 116 crab total but that is 11 pots and 6 pulls. I ended up with 54 keepers and had probably 5 sponge crabs. I am not seeing nearly as many as in previous years. I caught 1 nasty spider crab, only 2 stone crabs ( no claws    ) and had 6 flounder in the pots. Good and safe crabbing to you all.

That's a lot of work for the crabs you did catch.
