I've been out a few times in the St Lucie River on the south fork and the crabs have been good sized and super FULL. You won't catch a ton but its a decent spot to catch a dozen. The first few times I went were nice because I had zero competition but now the commercial guy has migrated his pots up into this area which stinks. Fortunately the commercial crabbers placement of pots confirms that I had mine in the good spots.
The crabbing is decent now but I hope it gets better when the dredging stops. I've been seeing about 2-3 crabs per pot on average right now(24hr soak). The dredging should be done by July so I may head back and try again.
I recently moved my pots to the north fork of the St Lucie so I'll report back on that soon. I've always done well there too.

I had planned on focusing more attention on the Loxahatchee River this year but it has been absolutely overrun with crab pots the last two times I checked it out... It's insane! Long story short is don't waste your time out there. When I went out last year in sept/oct there wasn't a single crab pot  to be seen. Crazy the difference 6 months makes.

Shellfish- One of these days I want to come up to New Smyrna and try my luck in your neck of the woods. Maybe we can link up. I hope you've had better crabbing up there lately.

Unfortunately crabbing is still off in my area. Put off your visit until crabbing returns to normal.
I would enjoy your visit and crabbing together but hold off a while; I hate dissapointment.
Due to the seagrasses dying off the Manatees are starving to death. More than 800 so far. What a shame! The Feds have stepped in to survey the problem. I don't see them accomplishing much!   Stay safe!   Jim
