Crabbing Currituck Sound around KOA campground

Thinking of camping/crabbing Currituck Sound from the KOA campground. Anybody have crab luck from shore?

Been crabbing in the Currituck for 20 years but only 1 -2 weeks per summer.   Not sure if you have a boat but going to the deeper water of the sound will produce many more crabs.  Have gone from the ocean side and head west until i am closer to the sound side and have gotten pretty good results with the standard full size crab pots.   Crabbed from the shore but the majority of crabs have been undersize and the crabs we caught over 5 inches were light on meat or paper crabs.
