Personally, I would like to see heavy jail sentences for crimes like this. Simply because the damage potential to the US crab industry, as well as the environmental impact would be devastating if Chinese Mitten Crabs can establish a foothold in the US, likely to the tune of billions. What sentence would be just for a crime potentially worth billions? IMHO, at least fifteen to twenty years.

They are already here. they have been caught in the Chesapeake bay.

No they aren't.  Xanthidae aka gorilla crabs, mud crabs are highly poisonous containing toxing that aren't destroyed by cooking and have no antidote.  You will die period!!!!
