I went out opening day and I was not disappointed. Put out corn on Wednesday and hunted Friday evening. I have been slacking on a lot of stuff this year. My back has also been bothering me for about a week before my hunt. So jump a spike walking to the stand and push 3 deer off the corn at 4pm. Then about an hour later see a few does come in. They leave and small buck and fawn come in. Its non stop action the whole evening. I was hoping for a big buck. I was not going to spend all night dealing with a doe since I was planning on crabbing the next morning. So it was going to be a big buck or nothing. I have seen around 30 deer by the time I was about to get down. Then I see some big antlers behind a tree. Its messing with a bush and I grab my bow. As soon as it clears the big tree Im going to get a better look at it and decide if im going crabbing or not in the morning. Well I went crabbing. It was a nice buck but young and not what i was looking for. It was a great hunt but the seat was horrible and made my back even worse. Crabbing also sucked. 2 dozen crabs in 6 hours. Hopefully the crabbing is better the next time I get out. Good luck everyone and be safe.

With all that activity at your feed pile, you're bound to eventually have the deer that you're looking for come around. Good luck with your hunts and future crabbing. ( If you manage to get out for anymore trips)

Bow season here doesn't start till Oct. 1st.  Wife haw been out of town and doesn't come home till Oct. 1st so the first week I'll be staying home.  One WMA rifle season opens Oct. 23rd.  After I get rid of Mutzy and Moe  laugh laugh  I'll head for the woods.

Ray it was like 72 and very comfortable during the day. I was even a little chilly when the sun was getting close to set. My back is so messed up right now I'm not even sure I will get out again to crab.

I wouldn't wait. Mutzy is a pretty fast runner from what I understand, and Moe is quite elusive as well.   rifle rifle rifle rifle

I remember it being hot that Friday and talking about hunting in high temps but I'm guessing the heat got out just in time.

I hunt DE which is already open for bow but I usually wait till Oct for cooler weather. Last Friday I was in an accident where my airbag went off and my chest is sore and any twisting or pulling really hurts so not even going to try to cock the crossbow and no way I could draw my compound. I hope by mid Oct I won't be afraid to shoot the muzzle loader, again right now the recoil would hurt plus I'd need help dragging. I have hope and confidence that by Nov gun season I'll be ready. At 69 you just don't heal fast.

I know the feeling. I put a bad shot on a big deer last rut and never found him. Hoping he made it to this year.
